Huntington Rib & Music Fest

I attended the Huntington Rib & Music Fest, August 7-10, at Harris Riverfront Park in Huntington, WV. The 13th Annual Huntington Rib & Music Fest is a four day event designed specifically as a summer riverfront food and entertainment festival. The Rib & Music Fest features mouth watering, finger licking good ribs and barbeque chicken, prepared by some of the best “Ribbers” in the United States. This year’s event features six award-winning BBQ chefs and crews who tempt this region's taste buds with their signature sauces. What an awesome way to spend the weekend with family and friends!

Raft For The Cure

Raft for the Cure was established in 1999 by Jeff Proctor, the owner of Class-VI River Runners. Jeff's wife, Janet, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1999 and now Class-VI holds an annual benefit for Susan G. Komen the third Saturday in August every year. On Saturday, August 16th Class VI offered classic whitewater rafting one-day trips on the Lower New River Gorge National River, which includes rapids rated from Class III to Class V. When you Raft for the Cure 50% of your trip cost is donated to Susan G. Komen! That is how we continue to make beautiful changes in West Virginia, by supporting one another and supporting a wonderul cause!

Eastern Regional Recruiting Family Readiness Conference

I was honored to be able to attend the Eastern Regional Recruiting Family Readiness Conference in Atlanta July 15-18. It was an event for Marines and volunteers to come together to build a stronger support network. What a great opportunity to be able to serve as a volunteer for the Marine Corps!
